Crystal sat in on bass with the Liberators and soon joined, as did Tom Linehan on keyboards, and Jerry switched to rhythm guitar. Jerry played guitar full time in the sixties, so he welcomed the change. We now had a much bigger fuller sound. With Jerry and Tom holding down the rhythm, I was able to improve my singing and get more creative on the lead guitar. We played several gigs in this configuration, and everyone who'd heard the before and after were most complimentary. (Not that we were bad three piece.) Eventually, the core members of both projects united into Idylwood. That line-up included Caroline O'Driscoll on lead vocals, Jerry and me on guitars, Thierry on pedal steel, lap steel and guitar, Al on drums and Crystal on bass.

As is almost always the case with bands there are seemingly perpetual personnel changes. Caroline and Crystal moved on, and Al took a mental health break. So, we added Bob Anderson on drums, Cary Lee Hanes on vocals, and Mike Yablonski on bass. We played in this configuration for about a year, until Mike decided it was time to strike out on his own. Jerry returned to the bass for a stint. But eventually Bob and Jerry moved on. Fortunately, Mike and Al were then ready to return from their respective sabbaticals.
